The Lessons

Teaching drums is something I love because of the positive emotions and inspiration it gives my students. It's so nice to see when a student feels the excitement of playing music and when they achieve their goals.

My aim is to impart all my knowledge and experience to my students and to feed their minds with knowledge, positivity and curiosity.

The aspirations of each student can vary greatly. They may want to learn their favourite songs, progress through the grade systems, learn how to read music, play percussion etc.

THAT'S GREAT!

The topic of study changes from student to student and I adapt to suit those needs.
However, I do employ a few fundamental aspects of drumming to teach to every student.

These include:
- Stretching exercises
(& other knowledge about injury prevention)
- Metronome practise (Both vocally and physically)
- Ear training (identifying rhythms, genres, time signatures etc)
- Technique (Matched grip & Traditional if required)
- Reading & counting (rhythms, drum kit notation)
- Rudiments (The scales of drumming)

All of these are essential in becoming a good drummer and when tied together, they allow you to learn and play anything you want.

Practise is key 🔑

Persistence is key 🔑

But overall, having fun is most important! 😄 🥁
